ROBERT MORRIS

BIOGRAPHY

Robert Morris (1931) is an American sculptor and writer. Morris is a key theorist and leader of Minimalism. His contributions to this study fell mainly with his works with performance art, land art, the Process art movement and installation art. In his early works, Morris believed that making art was a recording of the artist as a performer. This in combination with an interest in dance and choreography formed the backbone of his performance pieces. When developing his minimalist pieces, Morris was influenced by Marcel Duchamp. His most famous pieces include reductions of sculpture to large geometric shapes and the elimination of a subject.
