ALBERTO BIASI

BIOGRAPHY

Alberto Biasi (b. 1937) is an Italian artist acknowledged for his contribution to the development of Kinetic Art in Italy, as well as being one of the main founders of the revolutionary Group N during the 1960s, experimenting primarily with the illusory optical possibilities created by the mix of non-traditional and everyday materials in art, and blurring the lines between two- and three-dimensionality in the perceptually complex geometric and structural composition of his work. Biasi continues to explore the original concepts of optical effects from that period throughout his work, despite Group N disbanding in 1967, constantly challenging our sense of perspective and manipulating our vision through his intensely vibrant works.
